    Flats Class Rig Question

Rigged up one of the flats class rigs for redfish and had one question. I tied a 1/0 circle hook to the leader with a palomar knot. The hook sticks straight out as it should until I put my soft plastic bait on it, and then the hook tilts down under the weight of the bait. I am using a 3 inch bait and threading it onto the hook. Is it all right for the bait to be tilted down or does it have to be straight out for the best presentation? Thanks for any info.

    Re: Flats Class Rig Question

Once in the water, the bait should be all but weightless, and should ride about level. Also, once you cast it out and the line is at a severe angle to the bottom, the bait should tail-up a bit. As long as you are using a good, supple bait like the Strike King stuff we use on the show, the action will not be effected by little differences in the rigging. f2p
