I took my girlfriend out snook fishing the other night and got spooled by one lunker snook. We fished a local bridge that has a reputation for holding big linesiders. We arrived after the evening storms and found hundreds of ladyfish crushing small glass minnows on the surface. We could not get a plug down to the snook without a ladyfish intercepting them, so I went old school with a 1oz. bucktail jig with a plastic trailer lathered in Lunker Sauce (mullet scent).
It didn't take but three casts before a big linsider crushed my jig and after a two or three minute scuffle the snook ran me back around the bridge fender eventually cutting me off! It's refreshing to see that a simple old time lure like a bucktail jig still fools the big ones...
