I have been using 10/2 powerpro and 20 lb leader. I got a few breakoffs at the braid to leader knots, uni to uni without superglue. The braid cut the leader below the knot which had been tied for a long time and had made many casts. So I decided to try just braid to lure and/or jig head.
My short term results of not using leader were positive for reds, snook and trout in clear water. I tied directly using the single line and Palomar knots. Maybe the limpness if the braid made up for not using a loop knot? Maybe I was just lucky?
Would small braid, no leader, work well with the FlatsClass rig?
When/why is a leader required with small braid?
Are there better ways to attach braid to leader than uni to uni knots?
Would super glue have prevented the breakoffs?
Is there a tougher leader that wouldn't be eventually cut by braid knot pressure? I used InvisiLine
