After using a lure I never place it back in my tackle box, instead I put it in a wide mouthed fresh water container that has a few drops of dish washing liquid mixed in it. This immediately breaks down the salt crystals that destroy hooks and lures...then all you have to do when you get back home is remove the lures from the rinse bottle and let them air dry on a paper towel.
Today's hooks and lures are expensive, so it just makes sense to take a minute to care for them.
